Jordan ‘Enterprise Challenge’ Digitally Adapts to COVID-19

1st March 2021

When COVID-19 caused schools to shut at the start of 2020, it became clear to all that the need for youth support was about to grow exponentially. However, the problem faced by many, including INJAZ, who deliver ‘Enterprise Challenge’ to young people in Jordan, was how to adapt to the new need for virtual learning as learning moved online.

This challenge, although tricky, was met swiftly by INJAZ who have now been delivering the programme digitally for the past 12 months.  The ’Enterprise Challenge’ programme is an annual inter-school competition for students aged 13 – 16, designed to develop and encourage their entrepreneurial spirit and business knowledge.

The’Enterprise Challenge’ programme is an annual inter-school competition for students aged 13 – 16, designed to develop and encourage their entrepreneurial spirit and business knowledge.

Students attend a series of learning sessions, now facilitated online, then form teams to play abusiness simulation game with support from a mentor. This online simulation takes them through the stages of setting up and running a successful business, building knowledge and confidence, and encouraging entrepreneurial spirit.

Not only have INJAZ continued to deliver ‘Enterprise Challenge, but they have also provided a ‘pandemic health kit’ for each of the students taking part, with essentials such as hand sanitizer, masks, gloves and wet wipes.

We are delighted that 870 pupils have participated so far, with an aim of reaching 2000 before the end of the school year!

Alaa Al Masry is a volunteer in Ramla Bint Abi Sufyan Elementary School for Girls stated that:

“Distance learning was an opportunity to learn something new, The volunteering opportunity in the EBC program on INJAZ platform was an educational opportunity for me as a volunteer and for the students. The benefit was not as if it were a direct education, but it is a new experience for development and learning, the program is excellent .. The booklet is full of interesting and useful activities and keeps pace with the new generation. The development on the simulation game was good, it was smooth and fun and the game simulated reality.”
