John joined PTI in January 2018 as the Project Manager for the Get Into project in Greece. He first volunteered in Romania in 1998 and returned in 2000 as the Project Co-ordinator for Blythswood Care in their flagship project for young men who were unable to work after leaving state care. After seeing the first intake of participants complete the project, John returned to the UK to study European Politics and run a youth into work program with Perth YMCA. He returned to Eastern Europe in 2010 as Country Manager for Hospices of Hope in the Republic of Moldova and was responsible for sourcing funding for palliative care in the region.
A graduate of the Institute of Fundraising, John focused on capacity building of fundraising skills across Romania from 2014 – 2015 where together with British funders, he founded Bridging The Gap, an NGO providing free corporate training to charities across the country. He also returned to the Blythswood Care in 2016, to not only locally fundraise for the project but to secure employer support offering training and work programs to the young men cared for within the centre.
John speaks Romanian and is learning Greek.
