Response and Recovery Appeal

16th June 2020

With millions of global youth out of work, education and – for now – confined to their homes, many more young people will need us, and they will need us more than ever.

In May, the International Labour Organiation reported that 1 in 6 young people around the world are now unemployed due to the effects of COVID-19. Young people are already three times more likely to be unemployed than older adults, and as their education is disrupted and jobs are lost worldwide due to COVID-19, their prospects look increasingly bleak.

In response, we are dramatically accelerating our investment in digital tools and channels in the 13 countries where we operate. Our belief is that by digitising what we do and what we know, together with our local partners, we can continue to reach thousands of disadvantaged young people.

Today, we launch our Response and Recovery Appeal to build futures for young people worldwide during and after this crisis.

Together, we can prevent this crisis from defining the prospects of a generation.
