83 young people are now in full-time employment via the ‘Ready2Work’ programme with our partners Knowl in Greece!
When COVID-19 related restrictions were put in place in Greece, AB Supermarket immediately identified the need to prioritise online shopping and step-up their recruitment process for in-store positions. AB Supermarket is one of the leading supermarket store chains in Greece and has over 80 years of presence in the Greek retail industry, currently employing more than 14500 people in more than 500 stores and pick-up points in Greece.
Our partner Knowl undertook the social responsibility, in a period of instability for the country, to identify, inform, engage and train suitable candidates through our ‘Ready2Work’ programme for AB Supermarket’s stores in Attica. Now, 83 young people have a job in one of the leading companies in Greece!
Our ‘Enterprise’ programme partners in Athens, Corallia, have been delivering 4-day ‘Explore Enterprise’ courses over Zoom in the past month. With 31 young people completing the course this week, that number is more than double the average attendance of the face-to-face delivery courses.
With such an innovative approach and quick response to the situation, they were able to continue to deliver the ‘Explore Enterprise’ programme in-line with the original plan with no break in support for the young people, which is especially crucial at this time.
Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive, giving them a focus and purpose during the lockdown in Greece. The online programme was also able to reach people from rural areas of Greece who would not ordinarily have been able to attend a face-to-face course.
