On the 18th November 2016, at the Deputy British High Commission in Karachi, Prince’s Trust International celebrated a key milestone in the delivery of the Enterprise Challenge Programme in Pakistan.

Enterprise Challenge Pakistan, which was launched in September 2016, is delivered by our partner SEED, an organisation dedicated to facilitating the development of entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

Enterprise Challenge Pakistan is a pan-Pakistan, inter-school competition that is designed to inspire and instil entrepreneurial and business acumen amongst young people, and to encourage them to consider enterprise as a career option. It also helps young people develop key skills such as teamwork, communication and presentation. In its first year the programme has been delivered in 20 secondary schools across 10 cities, leveraging the expertise of 34 business mentors and benefiting 300 students aged 13-16.

Following the Regional Finals earlier in the year, six winning teams from across Pakistan attended the National Finals in Karachi and pitched their business ideas to a panel of judges in front of a live audience. The event saw guests from across the corporate, public and academic sectors join together in celebration of these inspiring young people. The winning team, from Pishin, Baluchistan will now receive seed funding for their business idea.

British High Commissioner, Thomas Drew, said:

The first time I had heard that Enterprise Challenge Pakistan was being executed in schools, I thought to myself what a great age group that must be to introduce entrepreneurship to. I commend Prince’s Trust International and SEED Ventures for introducing this innovative and exciting entrepreneurship programme in Pakistan, and assure the UK Government’s full support now, and in the coming years.’

We have big plans for Enterprise Challenge in Pakistan and hope to grow our reach to deliver in 40 schools, benefiting 1300 students by the end of our third year. Keep up to date on our progress on the Facebook page. Enterprise Challenge is also being delivered in Jordan and Qatar, for more information on the programme click here.
